The $2.5 million state-of-the-art, high-tech Math, Science and Technology Center (MSTC) was completed and ready for classes for the 2001-2002 school year.

Four Upper School classrooms are equipped with iMacs, scanners, document cameras, SMART Boards and video projection systems. Mobile computer carts of iBook computers with wireless access to network and Internet sites enable any room to become a student computer lab for data analysis and multimedia projects.

The Chemistry/Physical Science and Biology/Environmental Science Laboratories have Probeware, scientific probes attached to the computers that more accurately measure temperatures, pH, speed, and electrical output. Microcam devices that perform like microscopes with camera recording capabilities can be connected to each lab computer, and portable digital camcorders and cameras can be used to gather data and record results. Also, a green house with six student workstations, a zoology lab for display and care of live animals and a computerized weather station outfit this new addition.

The Lower School wing includes a resource room using ASSET science materials and a cooperative learning lab that includes a teacher presentation area for lecture and demonstration.

Students have the opportunity to learn through virtual field trips and interact with other students through distance learning in a specially designed videoconferencing classroom. The equipment can also be used in an adjacent meeting room for remote participation in IEPs and other planning meetings.
