ASL Classes

At WPSD, ASL courses go beyond sign language instruction. Classes not only promote signing skills, but also a greater understanding of Deaf culture. Class size is limited so that each participant can receive individual attention from the instructor.

Sessions are held on the Pittsburgh campus on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. during the school year.  No academic credit is awarded.

ASL CLASS OFFERED AT THE CAMP HILL OUTREACH CENTER:

January 10-February 28, 2013 Level 1 American Sign Language Class for Adults.

Provided by the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children Outreach Center.  Thursday evenings 6pm-8pm. Location: 3820 Hartzdale Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011

  • To assist students in monitoring their progress in this course, there will be evaluations.
  • No academic credit is awarded for the course
  • The Outreach Center reserves the right to change, alter or cancel classes.
  • No sign language experience necessary.

Upcoming Coming Workshops for Parents and Professionals at the Outreach Center in Camp Hill:

February 1 – Camp Hill Outreach Center from 10 am – noon.  RSVP by January 28.

Using an iPad to Enhance Childrens’ Communication and Learning. Participants will become familiar with the helpful features of the iPad and how they can be implemented at home and in therapy for learning and communication.
