WPSD students partnered with the Little Lake Theatre outside of Canonsburg, PA to put on the production of “Captain Louie Jr” in early October.  The cast was divided between 13 hearing students from local school districts and eight from WPSD.  The production was presented simultaneously in spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL).  Once the hearing cast members were selected, they took part in a 10-week ASL course to enhance their understanding of ASL and build relationships with their deaf counterparts.

WPSD was excited about this very special partnership with Little Lake Theatre and the unique opportunity it provides in the performing arts for its students.  Students practiced in WPSD’s auditorium and at Little Lake Theatre for several months prior to opening night.  Several performances were scheduled at the theatre including one in the WPSD auditorium for staff, students and families to see.  The kids did a spectacular job and we are so proud of each one of them!  We look forward to more opportunities for collaboration with Little Lake Theatre in the future!
