Early Dismissal at 12:30pm. Modified school schedule due to expected solar eclipse

On Monday, April 8th, the Western PA School for the Deaf will have school from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Day student transportation should have morning drop-off between 7:30 am and 8:00 am. Day student pick-up will be at 12:30 pm. This modified schedule is to accommodate the expected solar eclipse that will reach its peak at about 3:00 pm. Staring at an eclipse could lead to vision damage.

Residential students will not need any special transport accommodations on this day.

Parents may opt not to send their student to school due to the eclipse. An excused absence requires a written excuse. Parents should communicate with their transportation provider if their child will not be attending.
